Goal-hungry McKenna: “I've got big plans”Our new forward in his first interview// INTERVIEWJeremy McKenna will play for EHC Red Bull München in the upcoming season. In his second DEL year, the forward is moving from Franconia to Upper Bavaria. We talked to him about his transfer to München.
Hi Jeremy, welcome to Munich. Your last season in the Nürnberg Ice Tigers jersey was a very successful one, especially for you personally. How do you look back on it?
McKenna: “First of all, it went very well for the team, because they played above expectations in the playoffs. But I'm also personally pleased, given that it was my first professional season in Europe. Since the style of play here suits my own game well, I was able to adapt very quickly.”
You already scored a goal in late November in Nürnberg's 4-3 overtime win at SAP Garden...
McKenna: “(laughs) It was a great game, it was a lot of fun. I hope to score a lot of goals next season too – but then for the Red Bulls.”
What are your goals for the upcoming season?
McKenna: “I definitely have big plans and I want to use the long off-season to prepare myself as well as possible. I want to build on last season and get even better. With the opportunities I have here, I can do it.”

You are already familiar with the Red Bulls organization due to your past. How do you look back on your time in the Red Bull Hockey Academy?
McKenna: “It was a long time ago, but when I was in Salzburg recently, a lot of memories from that time came back. It was a lot of fun, the training was great and the people always treated me well. I knew that this could be something for me in the future, so I'm very happy to now be part of the team and part of the Red Bulls family.”
Do you already know any players from our current squad personally?
McKenna: “Adam Brooks and I know each other very well, having played together in Toronto. I've also trained with a few players since then. I feel like I've settled in quite well in the locker room.”
You'll be wearing the number 91 for us, which you also wore in Nuremberg. Is there a story behind that?
McKenna: “For the first few years of my career, I always had the number 12, which I liked very much, but they don't use that number in Nuremberg anymore. As a kid, I wore the number 91 a few times. I liked the number and it brought me luck last season, so I thought I'd stick with 91.”
