But of course we won't be given anything for free. "Frankfurt are playing a bit more aggressively under Tom Rowe than last season," Munich coach Toni Söderholm has already noted.
New coach behind the boards
The 68-year-old Rowe has coached the Nürnebrg Ice Tigers for the past three years. The US-American, who has already worked in the NHL and as an assistant coach for the DEB team, has been at the helm of the Löwen Frankfurt since the summer.
"We want to be very aggressive in the forecheck, be a strong puck possession team and only play dump and chase when we have to. Expectations are high, and I think they should be," said Rowe in the Frankfurter Neue Presse before the start of the season.
New names and familiar key players in the Löwen squad
In other words: This year, it should be the playoffs for last year's twelfth-placed team in the main round. And a number of top-class new signings have been brought in to relieve the pressure on key players such as defender Maksim Matushkin and the two forwards Carter Rowney and Dominik Bokk.
