The first player tests the ice on the main playing surface// SAP GARDENThe ice on the main rink in our new home has been ready since the beginning of September. There are still a few days to go until the Grand Opening against the Buffalo Sabres. But the first EHC Red Bull München player has already tested the ice in advance.
One look around the stadium, pause for a moment - and off you go! Maximilian Kastner was the first professional ever to step onto the main ice in the SAP Garden recently.
For the premiere at his new workplace, Kastner stopped by the face-off circle, the place where each of our home games will open in the future. His first impression is promising. "The ice was great and felt really good. We're really looking forward to finally playing in the sold-out SAP Garden in a few days' time. Every one of our players is already getting goosebumps", enthused the Red Bulls attacker.

Step by step to the perfect ice
It took a lot of work over the past few months to get everything ready for September 27. A brief outline: We started preparing the ice in our new home back in October last year. The starting signal was given with the installation of the first ice rink bore under the three training areas, which were fully concreted in January.
The next milestone followed in April with the drilling of the main playing surface. The first running meters of precision steel pipes for the cooling system were laid underneath, which were then welded together. Three months later, in May, the concreting of the ice was also completed here. The 1,739.39 square meter concrete surface was then cooled down to the appropriate temperature for several days, after which the ice production could begin.
Walter Wettstein AG: ice experts from Switzerland
Walter Wettstein AG was behind the entire implementation. The leading company for industrial refrigeration systems and heat pumps based in Gümligen (Switzerland) is responsible for the entire refrigeration technology and therefore also for the four ice rinks in the SAP Garden.
The sustainable way of working, which includes efficient energy recovery, also fits in with the philosophy of our club. Walter Wettstein AG is also a member of the Bulls Business Sphere of EHC Red Bull München.
Second pre-sale phase for DEL home games underway
For the sold-out Grand Opening against the Buffalo Sabres, the ice will be tested in the game for the first time. Tickets for the DEL premiere against the Grizzlys Wolfsburg are also already sold out.
Tickets for the home games between October 4 and November 1 are still available here.
