Two wins, ten goals: The Red Bulls are cold-blooded and have got their season off to an ideal start.Munich and Berlin top the table// CURRENTEHC Red Bull München got off to a flying start on the first weekend of the new PENNY DEL ice hockey season, taking a full six points from the two away games in Iserlohn and Frankfurt. The highlights: two goal-scoring debuts and a hot forward line.
The parallels between the two games last Friday and Sunday were obvious. After a lightning start to the game, the Red Bulls raced into an early lead. But then their opponents came back and equalized before our boys turned up the heat again and scored late goals at the end of regular time to decide the game.
Toni Söderholm was accordingly satisfied after the DEL start. "We found a way to win on Friday and we also found a way today". said our coach after the win at Löwen Frankfurt and the first six-point weekend of the season.
By the way: Only the Eisbären Berlin also managed to win their games, with both teams now heading the table with six points and ten goals scored each.

Munich attacking trio on the move
Our nominally third attacking formation was partly responsible for the perfect start. Markus Eisenschmid scored the first goal of the season in Iserlohn after just over two minutes, the preparatory work coming from his two strike partners Chris DeSousa and Taro Hirose. The new Munich signing needed just 126 seconds to score his first point in the PENNY DEL on his debut in a Red Bulls jersey.
In the final period, DeSousa and Hirose once again took over the playmaking. The former scored a brace, the latter scored on an assist from “Sous” to win the game and thus to score his first goal in Germany's top league. DeSousa was also involved in Max Daubner's opening goal in Frankfurt.
With five scorer points (two goals, three assists), our number 82 is currently second in the league's all-time scorer list behind Berlin's Gabriel Fontaine (six points). Hirose collected a total of three points and summer signing Tobias Rieder also made a great contribution with two assists.

Young defender can also celebrate for the first time
Jakob Weber can also look back on a strong opening weekend. The 20-year-old chased the puck into the Roosters box in the Sauerland with a powerful direct shot for the important 5:5 equalizer. PENNY DEL goal number one for the defenseman! Weber was back on the ice two days later, his shot deflected off Daubner at the first opportunity with a tip-in to make it 0:1 early on.
So far, the chances have been well taken. Eight different goalscorers have scored ten times. Shooting efficiency: 21.2 percent, meaning every fifth attempt found its target. That's the top figure in the entire league!
