Course of the game
The visitors from Schwenningen got off to the better start: After just 78 seconds, top scorer Zach Senyshyn netted to make it 1:0. The duel then developed into a fast-paced exchange of blows with chances on both sides. Munich's Rieder capitalized on one of them. The attacker scored from close range (12') after precise preparatory work by captain Patrick Hager to equalize the score at 1:1 for the Red Bulls. The teams went into the first break with this score.
In the middle period, it was again the visitors who started with more pressure. Munich goalie Mathias Niederberger had to intervene several times. After about five minutes, the Red Bulls became more dangerous. First Eisenschmid shot against the crossbar, shortly afterwards DeSousa gave them a 2:1 lead (27'). In the 33rd minute, the Munich goal-scorer even scored a brace: Hirose's pass, DeSousa's finish through the pads of Wild Wings goalkeeper Joacim Eriksson, 3:1 for the home side. And that was not all, as Hirose also scored from an acute angle after 37 minutes to make it 4:1 at the break.
In the final period, Michael Bitzer replaced Eriksson in the Schwenningen goal and soon made his mark. At the other end, the Munich defense only allowed a few shots from the Wild Wings. The Red Bulls controlled the match - and scored to make it 5:1 with Eisenschmid (51). In the remaining minutes, Senyshyn scored his second goal of the evening to make it 2:5 for Schwenningen (58'). The sold-out SAP Garden then celebrated a convincing performance by the home team and EHC Red Bull Münchens sixth win in its sixth match since coach Jackson's comeback.
