Rieder joins the German national team – four Münchner players in the preliminary World Cup squadSquad update// NATIONAL TEAMThe World Championship begins in Sweden and Denmark at the start of May. After two test matches as part of their preparations for the tournament, the German national team will travel to Slovakia on Monday. Tobias Rieder will be among them.

On May 9, the starting signal will be given for this year's IIHF World Championship. After the two test match defeats against the Czech Republic last week, national coach Harold Kreis is adding to the squad for the first time.

Our number 8 is part of the team. This makes Rieder the fourth player from EHC Red Bull München in the national team, alongside Patrick Hager, Maximilian Kastner and Luis Schinko.

Further test matches are coming up

After a short break, the DEB squad will travel to Slovakia on Monday. There, the team will prepare for the next games, which will take place in Piestany on April 16 and 17 at 6:00 p.m. each day.

National coach Kreis on the second phase of preparation: “The focus is now entirely on the further development of the team in the two matches against the Slovaks, who will demand everything from us. This is shown by the experiences of our past comparisons, which were always close and physically challenging for us.”

The final World Cup squad will be decided in the course of the preparation. This will take place in Zell am See, Rosenheim and Düsseldorf, before the national coach's selection goes to Scandinavia.
