End of the year at SAP Garden: Red Bulls meet Wolfsburg// DEL - PREVIEWFor the final act in the 2024 calendar year, EHC Red Bull München welcomes the Grizzlys Wolfsburg to the sold-out SAP Garden on Monday at 7.30 pm (live on MagentaSport, on our blog & Sportdeutschland.TV).

The Red Bulls celebrated a successful PENNY DEL premiere in their new home against the team from Lower Saxony on October 2 with a 7:4 victory, and now we will conclude this eventful year against the Autostadt team. In between was a 2:1 triumph after a penalty shootout in Wolfsburg at the beginning of December, the sixth win in a row against the team from the Aller.

Ehliz has club record in sight

Now our boys want to put a tick behind 2024 with their next home win. After two away games in a row, we get to play at home again, with two home wins in a row at the SAP Garden recently (3:1 against Straubing, 2:1 against Iserlohn).

With 99 goals scored, the Red Bulls currently have the third-best offense in the league. The search is therefore on for the scorer of goal number 100, and Yasin Ehliz may well be involved. The attacker currently has 272 points for our club and is therefore just one point behind Yannic Seidenberg (273) in the Red Bulls' all-time scoring list.

In the first home game of the season against Wolfsburg, Ehliz already recorded a brace and an assist. The 31-year-old therefore knows what to do against the Grizzlies.

Wolfsburg strong in December

Our opponents travel to the Bavarian capital with nine points from their last five games and December has been the Grizzlies' strongest month so far. On Saturday, the eighth-placed team in the table won 5:2 at Düsseldorfer EG thanks to a strong middle third. Luis Schinko scored two goals, Phil Varone and Nick Caamano collected three points.

The two top scorers Matthew White, the American is one of the best forwards in the league with 29 points, and Spencer Machacek (27 points) came away empty-handed.

Top values in the special teams

Coach Mike Stewart's team can rely on its special teams in particular this season. The Grizzlies are among the top three teams in the PENNY DEL in both the power play (26 percent) and shorthanded play (83 percent). So far in December, Wolfsburg has only conceded one goal with at least one player less on the ice, but has scored in almost every third power play.

So for us, that means staying out of the penalty box and making the most of the opportunities that arise when we're outnumbered!
