Thursday, 19. December 2024 | DEL Preview: EHC Red Bull München visits Adler Mannheim
Top game in Mannheim: Red Bulls want to go one better against the Adler // DEL - PREVIEWAfter their recent strong performances, EHC Red Bull München is travelling to Adler Mannheim with a tailwind. You can watch the top game live on Friday evening (19:30) as usual on MagentaSport, Sportdeutschland.TV & on our blog.
3:1 in the derby against Straubing, 4:1 at second-placed Berlin and 8:0 in Düsseldorf - our boys have been in very good form of late, recording three wins in a row.
Nico Krämmer will certainly have fond memories of last weekend, as our forward scored his 100th goal in the PENNY DEL on Sunday in Düsseldorf. He had already scored on Friday in Berlin to make it 3-0 at the interval. "100 goals in the DEL - that's something very special", said Krämmer.

Reminder from Heigl
The 32-year-old had been thinking about the milestone for some time - also thanks to his team-mates: "At the start of the season, the subject came up in the dressing room. And before the game in Düsseldorf, Klausi Heigl pointed out to me that I only needed one more goal. After the goal, 'Hagi' grabbed the puck straight away."

Munich and Mannheim: top teams in lockstep
Krämmer is now focusing on the game at his former club Mannheim. It is the third meeting between the two heavyweights this season. In the two previous duels, the home team came out on top - Munich 5:4, the Adler 4:1 just under three weeks ago. The two clubs are tied in the table with 48 points each and a goal difference of +18 - but we are listed ahead of the Eagles due to the more goals scored.

The trend is right: Our boys have picked up eleven points in the past five games. Only Mannheim have been more successful in this period with twelve points. So the two teams with the best form will meet on Friday evening. "Mannheim has a very good team every year. That's why it's always difficult to play against them," says Krämmer.
"Warrior" Fohrler holds the Adler defense together
Especially in Mannheim, because that's where coach Dallas Eakins' team has really come up trumps this season. The Adler have won eleven of their 13 home games in regulation time. Only Ingolstadt and Frankfurt have managed to take points from the SAP Arena so far. Mannheim has conceded less than two goals per game in its own stadium - a top figure.
Tobias Fohrler, who moved to the Kurpfalz from HC Ambri-Piotta in the summer, has played a big part in this. The German international defenseman is convincing as a hard worker who spares neither himself nor his opponents. Coach Dallas Eakins recently described Fohrler as a "warrior".

Lots of quality in the Adler offense
Other players are responsible for the special moments in the offense. Matthias Plachta is one of them. The forward always poses a threat to the opposition with his hard direct shot from the right wing. Plachta has 18 scoring points and leads the internal scoring list together with Kristian Reichel, Luke Esposito and Daniel Fischbuch.
Krämmer: "Defense is the best offense"
"We have something to make up for from the last game in Mannheim. We know what to expect," said Krämmer, who wants to build on the Red Bulls' recent strong performances and secure their fourth win in a row: "We're doing really well right now. Defense is the best offense, so we should be as compact as we were in Berlin and Düsseldorf."
