Red Bulls facing “major upheaval” after quarter-final exitThe voices and stats for the quarter-final series// CURRENTThe Red Bulls had to admit defeat against Adler Mannheim in the playoff quarter-final, losing 2:4. Patrick Hager spoke of missed opportunities after the narrow defeat in game 6, while Christian Winkler announced a change. The voices and stats.
Christian Winkler (Managing Director Sports Red Bull Eishockey) ...
... on the series: “We congratulate Adler Mannheim on reaching the semi-finals. Of course, we had imagined it differently – especially after taking a 2-1 lead in the series. We played very good ice hockey in five of the six games. It's bitter that it wasn't enough. It's still too fresh to put it into words. Nevertheless, I'm proud of the team because they gave it their all to the end.”
... on the coaching question: ”Many thanks to Don for helping us in a difficult situation. We will sit down together, analyze everything very carefully, and then make a decision. I don't want to rule out continuing with Don. He has given the team the identity we want. But of course it also depends on whether he can even imagine it. We will hold talks in the next few days, and then we will see where the journey takes us.
... on squad planning: "The title is our goal – and that will continue to be the case in the future. There will definitely be a change in the team. This has nothing to do with the end or that our boys have not shown what we want to see, but it was planned. We will get a slightly different face. The upheaval after this season will be bigger than in recent years.”

Don Jackson (Coach, EHC Red Bull München) ...
... on the reasons for the elimination: "Congratulations to Mannheim. Games 4 and 5 decided the series. Game 5 in particular broke our necks. We dominated in game 6 after conceding two goals. We built up a lot of pressure, but didn't score until the penultimate minute. It got exciting again, but it wasn't enough.”
... on his return: ”It was fun being here and working with the guys and the coaching staff. But I won't comment on my future at the moment.”
Patrick Hager (Forward, EHC Red Bull München) ...
... on game 6: “Today, as in the last few games, we left an incredible number of chances on the table. That broke our necks. In the playoffs, you have to find a way to score dirty goals. We didn't succeed in doing that.”
... on the reasons for the elimination: "We win two games clearly, all the others are on a knife's edge. Mannheim has found a way to win all these close duels. We can't afford to lose twice at home in this series. We can't reproach ourselves that much at five-on-five. We had our moments, could have turned the series in our direction, but we didn't push hard enough for the win. The key was that we couldn't implement the penetration that we actually have in our ranks. We had an incredible number of chances to score, but it's a results-based sport. Mannheim just took advantage of their chances in away games.“
... on the follow-up: ”The sting is deep. But in sports, there are only two options: either you stay down or you get back up and use that deep-seated sting to push yourself in the summer.”
Viertelfinale 6 | Pressekonferenz: EHC Red Bull München vs. Adler Mannheim (28.03.2025)
// PLAYOFF - INTERVIEWS
Dallas Eakins (coach, Adler Mannheim): "It was a close game, like the ones before it. I'm sure it's extremely painful for Munich, because the series could easily have gone the other way. Both teams fought hard for every inch of ice, emotions were running high, it was a tough contest between the two opponents.”
Leon Gawanke (defender, Adler Mannheim): "Like all the other games, today's game was hard-fought. There was little space on the ice, and in the end the little things made the difference. We scored early in the game and were able to defend it confidently in the end.”
Arno Tiefensee (goalie, Adler Mannheim): "We were able to take an early lead and were solid defensively, so in the end it was a strong team performance overall. No game was given away on one side, everything was hard-fought.”
