Two historic points: Hager writes DEL history
Saturday, 22. March 2025 | DEL Playoffs: Patrick Hager of Red Bull München sets scoring record
Two historic points: Hager writes DEL historyForward jumps to first place on the all-time playoff scorer list// PLAYOFFS - LATEST NEWSPatrick Hager set up two Munich goals in the Red Bulls' 5:2 away win at Adler Mannheim. With 92 scorer points, the forward has now overtaken Patrick Reimer at the top of the all-time DEL scoring list in the playoffs.
It was to become historic after just 54 seconds on Friday evening in Mannheim in the third quarter-final! Hager won the disc in a duel with Adler attacker Matthias Plachta in Munich's defensive third, Markus Eisenschmid took it over and converted his solo run to give our team an early lead. Shortly afterwards, Hager was also instrumental in Tobias Rieder's second goal. In his 147th career playoff game (76 of them for the Red Bulls), the captain recorded his 50th and 51st assists, plus 41 goals. Nobody in the DEL has collected more than the 92 points in the final round. "I want to help the team. If it works out with points, then it's nice to set the record," said the new top scorer after the game.

By the way: the München offensive player has played more playoff games than any other active DEL professional!
Hager in playoff mode
And finally, after game 3, our captain said something that is typical of him. “But today it is more important that we got the road win,” the 36-year-old emphasized immediately afterwards. After all, for the Stuttgart native, who learned the hockey ropes in Rosenheim, team success always comes first.
And Hager once again played a big part in that. In the 60 intense minutes that preceded it, the veteran once again demonstrated that he is made for playoff hockey. As an emotional leader who gets under the opponent's skin, Hager sacrifices himself for his team and runs hot. One thing is clear: when the going gets tough on the ice, our number 52 is particularly at home.

“You have to be ready to step up in the playoffs. At the end of the day, it's the toughest time of the year, but also the most fun. Those who handle pressure and minor injuries the best can achieve great things,” Hager described his recipe for success.
“It's like an addiction.”
And it is precisely this attitude that has led him to three championships in 17 seasons in his career so far. The center forward, who joined the league in 2007 while playing for Krefeld Pinguine, won his first title seven years later with ERC Ingolstadt and added two more in 2018 and 2023 with the Red Bulls.
And of course he doesn't intend to stop there; despite his previous successes, his ambition remains as strong as ever. “Since I became champion for the first time, the urge to do it again has become even stronger. It's like an addiction,” he said. And with Hager in top form, our guys can go far in the playoffs again this year.

Hager level with Wolf
Should he get on the scoresheet at least once, Hager will also become the top München playoff scorer in DEL history. He is currently level with our former captain Michael Wolf, his direct predecessor, with 25 goals each.
The next opportunity for Hager to add to his tally comes on Sunday. The Red Bulls will be looking to secure their third victory in the fourth quarter-final against Mannheim, which kicks off at 7:00 pm in the once again sold-out SAP Garden.
