On Friday evening, our new home arena was officially opened with a game against the Buffalo Sabres from the National Hockey League (NHL). Both teams played a spectacular opening game in front of 10,796 spectators in the sold-out SAP Garden, which went 5:0 to the favorites from the best ice hockey league in the world. Now our team's focus is back on the league.

// GRAND OPENING GAME
Coach Toni Söderholm's team is still unbeaten there. Our Red Bulls celebrated two victories against Iserlohn (7:5) and Frankfurt (3:2) in the DEL opener. Straubing also celebrated a successful start, but then lost twice - most recently on Thursday in Bremerhaven (0:3).
Only two DEL teams with a positive record at the Pulverturm
Last season, Munich and Straubing fought a hard-fought duel. The Tigers won the first three games before the Red Bulls claimed a 6-4 home win in the fourth encounter. Now it's time to get down to business at the Eisstadion am Pulverturm.
Of all the current DEL clubs, only two visiting teams have a positive record there: Frankfurt (six wins, five defeats) and the Red Bulls, who have won 16 of their 30 away games.

Aggressive Tigers
Our boys will certainly have to stretch themselves for their 17th success in Straubing, as the Tigers have developed into a top team under coach Tom Pokel. Last season, they reached the playoff semi-finals for the first time. The Straubingers are a force at home in particular. In the last main round, they scored 58 points in their own stadium - only Schwenningen scored more (59 points).
Recall campaign and youngsters from the neighborhood
Since the end of last season, the squad has undergone some changes in a number of positions. The most serious departure is that of defenseman Nicolas Mattinen, the reigning DEL Player of the Year. The Tigers have scored a coup with the return of forwards Taylor Leier and Travis St. Denis. The duo led the Tigers' scoring list in the 2022-23 season before Leier moved to Linköping in Sweden and St. Denis to ERC Ingolstadt.
However, they were not happy there. Now both are back in an environment in which they have already shone. Nuremberg also brought in three talented players, Tim Fleischer, Danjo Leonhardt and Elis Hede, who all set personal scoring records in the last DEL season.
