In addition, we are at a new location that has a lot to offer scenically," says our captain Patrick Hager, who is counting on the support of the traveling fans: "We can expect top ice hockey this weekend and are looking forward to seeing some of our fans in Zell am See-Kaprun."

Red Bulls in semi-final against top club ZSC Lions

For the EHC Red Bull München it starts on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. in the KE KELIT ARENA. With the ZSC Lions, a real top-class club is already waiting for the team of coach Toni Söderholm in the semi-final. The Swiss are one of the most successful clubs in the country with a total of nine championship titles as well as winning the Champions League in 2009 (organized by the IIHF at that time). On top of that, the team also won the Red Bulls Salute in 2006. This will be the fourth tournament participation for the Swiss.

The Zurich skating club is currently coached by success coach Marc Crawford. The Canadian was previously employed as head coach in the NHL by the Colorado Avalanche, the Vancouver Canucks, the Los Angeles Kings, the Dallas Stars and the Ottawa Senators, among others.

Top scorers remain with the Lions

The captain of the team is Swiss national defender Patrick Geering. The 33-year-old is considered a top defender who is appreciated by the fans above all for his loyalty. Geering has been part of the ZSC since 2002, starting in the U15 team and only leaving the club briefly for training purposes in his youth.

Last year's top scorers Juho Lammikko (26 goals, 18 assists), Alexandre Texier (15 goals, 25 assists) and Lucas Wallmark (10 goals, 28 assists) have all stayed with the Lions. As well as the Czech national goalie Simon Hrubec, who is the safe backstop for the already strong team.

In addition to the ZSC Lions, EC Red Bull Salzburg and Helsinki IFK will also compete in the Red Bulls Salute. The winners from both games will face each other in the final on Sunday, the losers of the semifinals will play for third place beforehand.

18 World Cup participants in the teams' squads

Not only will four top international clubs be facing each other, but also numerous top players. A total of 18 participants of the past World Championship in Finland and Latvia will be on the ice at the Red Bulls Salute.

New CHL rules at the Red Bulls Salute

The following weekend, the first important CHL points will be at stake in the Czech Republic against Vítkovice Ridera (September 1 at 6:30 p.m.) and the reigning champions Oceláři Třinec (September 3 at 3:00 p.m.).

The big advantage for the German champion: At the Red Bulls Salute is already played according to the new rules of the CHL. Our coach Toni Söderholm: "It will be important for us to play the games well, so that we can then start successfully in the Champions League. For us, this tournament is optimal just before the CHL. We are looking forward to top-class teams."

Hockey Checker - the big field hockey book is coming

In addition to the new CHL rules, there will be another premiere at the Red Bulls Salute: Hockey Checker - the big hockey book. Hockey Checker accompanies the Hockey Bulls Rob, Mike, Albert & Co. through a whole season. Whether preparation, away trip, victory or defeat: With fun and games, coloring pictures, puzzles and search tasks you are in the middle of it instead of just being there.
