Top scorers remain with the Lions
The captain of the team is Swiss national defender Patrick Geering. The 33-year-old is considered a top defender who is appreciated by the fans above all for his loyalty. Geering has been part of the ZSC since 2002, starting in the U15 team and only leaving the club briefly for training purposes in his youth.
Last year's top scorers Juho Lammikko (26 goals, 18 assists), Alexandre Texier (15 goals, 25 assists) and Lucas Wallmark (10 goals, 28 assists) have all stayed with the Lions. As well as the Czech national goalie Simon Hrubec, who is the safe backstop for the already strong team.
In addition to the ZSC Lions, EC Red Bull Salzburg and Helsinki IFK will also compete in the Red Bulls Salute. The winners from both games will face each other in the final on Sunday, the losers of the semifinals will play for third place beforehand.
18 World Cup participants in the teams' squads
Not only will four top international clubs be facing each other, but also numerous top players. A total of 18 participants of the past World Championship in Finland and Latvia will be on the ice at the Red Bulls Salute.
