Red Bulls are back: "A little déjà vu" as a turning point?
Saturday, 06. April 2024 | Playoffs PENNY DEL: EHC Red Bull München: Quotes and stats after semi-final 3
Red Bulls are back: "A little déjà vu" as a turning point? Quotes & stats for the third semi-final match// DEL - NEWSThe Red Bulls showed a reaction in the third semi-final and reduced the series to 1-2 with a "stable performance". Söderholm, Kastner & Niederberger explain what has changed since Game 2 and how our boys want to level the series.
Toni Söderholm: "That was a solid performance from us. We only had a few changes at the beginning where we were a bit too slow in our heads. After five minutes we got into it well. We read and recognized the situations better than in the first two games. We were the better team today. We'll celebrate for ten minutes and then we'll put the game behind us. On Sunday it's about defending as well as we did today."
Maximilian Kastner: "We wanted to build on the last game and we managed to do that. We came out as deserved winners. The 2-0 deficit against Bremerhaven was a bit of déjà vu, but of course we know from last year that we can turn the series around. Nevertheless, it's a new series and we're looking from game to game. We want to play the same way on Sunday as we did today. We need a lot of pace again to tire out their defenders. Then we have to capitalize on that."
Mathias Niederberger: "We were good in the special teams and very disciplined. In the end we even played to nil. We're up against a good opponent. That's why we decided to play our game with discipline for 60 minutes and not look too much at Bremerhaven. That seems to be working well at the moment."
Thomas Popiesch (Coach, Pinguins Bremerhaven): "There were several reasons for the defeat. The decisive one was that we lost too many duels. We made a lot of bad decisions in the first 30 minutes and made it too easy for Munich to create chances. But I think we were better in the game from the 30th minute onwards. However, we lacked the lucky punch. But we also know that we've done a lot of things right in recent weeks. We have to focus on that and then we'll attack again."

It was Bremerhaven's first defeat in these playoffs after six wins in a row.
