Tuesday, 02. April 2024 | Playoffs DEL: EHC Red Bull München: Quotes and stats after semi-final 1
Lessons learnt from game 1: "Put the pedal to the metal"Quotes & stats on the first semi-final match// DEL - NEWSThe Red Bulls fell behind early on and Bremerhaven's lead played into their hands. Coach Toni Söderholm and forward Nico Krämmer explain what we need to change against our disciplined opponent. The quotes & stats.
Toni Söderholm: "Bremerhaven controlled the game for the most part after taking the lead. They are a very disciplined team that defends well with five players. We have to be patient to create scoring chances and take over the game in the offensive zone. I think that the physical contact and pace will increase in the next game. We have to make sure that we don't press on the gas pedal and brake pedal at the same time, but more on the gas pedal."
Nico Krämmer: "It was an intense duel. We played a bit too complicated and too slow and adapted too much to their game. We didn't get the puck where we wanted it so we could get into our running game. We'll learn our lessons from that. We can still make some adjustments in offense to be successful in the next game."
Thomas Popiesch (Coach, Pinguins Bremerhaven): "We did a lot of things right at the start and scored the goal on the power play. After that it went back and forth, both teams had their moments. But we scored the goals at the right moments. The key in the playoffs is to be compact, but also to go into the forecheck at the right moments."
Kristers Gudlevskis (goalkeeper, Pinguins Bremerhaven): "I'm very happy that we got off to a strong start as a team. We played very structured and defended well in our own zone. I try not to look at personal statistics. At the end of the day, the playoffs are about finding a way to win the games."
