The Red Bulls started with straightforward speed field hockey, Bremerhaven defended their own goal compactly. In the 13th minute, Street found a gap in the visitors' defense, but Maximilian Franzreb was the final stop (13th). The Penguins goalkeeper was also in focus after that and had no chance in the 18th minute because Chris DeSousa kept the overview in overtime. Ehliz used the strong pass to make it 1:0.
Munich in the middle period consistently in the defense and with worth seeing offensive actions. The Pinguins remained without any significant chance and were outplayed by Maximilian Daubner in the 29th minute. Hager finished the long pass of the defender with the 2:0. In the final phase of the third, the Red Bulls with high chances every minute - and two more goals: Street (39th) and Smith (40th) made for a 4:0 lead after 40 minutes.
Bremerhaven did not find any solutions against the Munich defense in the final period either. The Red Bulls defended their lead skillfully and remained dangerous, but the post prevented the fifth goal by Andreas Eder (56th). In the 59th minute, Mathias Niederberger was able to distinguish himself: The national goalkeeper defused Nino Kinder's solo effort and thus earned his first shutout in the current playoffs.
