Ronning leads the top trio
Three of the Eisbären's forwards are really turning up the heat this season - and for once they don't include Marcel Noebels, the two-time DEL Player of the Year. They are Ty Ronning, Leo Pföderl (29 points each) and Gabriel Fontaine (26 points), who rank second to fourth in the DEL scoring list.
“The guys know where the goal is,” says Hager. This is particularly true of Ronning, who stands out from this trio. With 14 goals, the playful forward is at the top of the DEL scoring list, despite missing five games. His average of 1.53 scoring points per game is the best of any player in this DEL season.
Berlin (almost) without weaknesses
The capital city club is also well positioned in the other parts of the team. The defense around the German internationals Kai Wissmann and Jonas Müller as well as the US-American newcomer Mitch Reinke is stable and can also set offensive accents. The goalkeeper position is also well staffed with Jake Hildebrand and Jonas Stettmer.
If anything could be better, it is the home record. At home in the Uber Arena on the banks of the Spree, the Eisbärens average “only” 1.82 points per game - around half a point less than away from home.
