Many goals conceded, still strong special teams
In the past five games, however, the North Germans have lost their way a little and suffered several defeats. Most recently, the runners-up from the previous season lost 4:6 at the Schwenninger Wild Wings.
In general, the PENNY DEL's still by far best defense around the two top goalkeepers Maximilian Franzreb and Kristers Gudlevskis has had to concede a relatively high number of goals recently - even when short-handed. And yet the Pinguine are still top of the league with at least one player less on the ice, and Bremerhaven also has the best power play.
Pinguine duo makes an appearance
Jan Urbas has once again been strong in January with five goals so far. Christian Wejse also had a successful first calendar month this year. The Dane, who is actually responsible for the physical component in the Pinguine game, has already collected seven scoring points (six assists) since the turn of the year. The interplay with Nino Kinder (three goals in January) works well and gives head coach Alexander Sulzer more options in attack.
