At the beginning of the new round, some minor changes to the rules come into effect. However, the current adjustments on the ice exclusively concern the penalty times.
Change 1: If a penalty is called against a player for delay of game, the referees now have the option to review the call directly afterwards via video evidence. Afterwards, the penalty time can either be confirmed or cancelled.
Change 2: If up to now players of both teams received a Minor penalty, these were cancelled and did not appear on the clock. Exception: If at that time the game was played with five men against five men. If this was the case, the game continued with four field players per team. This exception is now removed, also in this case the penalties do not come on the clock. In other words, if a minor penalty is called against players of both teams in five-on-five, both offenses cancel each other out. The game continues normally with five players on each side.
Change 3: Previously, when a major penalty was reviewed by video evidence, the penalty awarded could only be confirmed or reduced. This meant that even if no foul could be proven on the basis of the match scene, a minor penalty had to be awarded in any case. As of the 2023/24 season, it will be possible to completely withdraw a major penalty after video evidence. In this case, the match will continue with the number of players prevailing at that time.
Change 4: The match penalty in the PENNY DEL will be abolished and replaced by a major penalty including a game time disciplinary penalty. If there is an offense that results in a major penalty, the incident will be reviewed by the Disciplinary Committee after the game and, if necessary, sanctioned with further penalties.
