800 DEL games: Red Bulls celebrate club anniversary in IngolstadtNext milestone in the derby against Ingolstadt// ANNIVERSARYOn Thursday, EHC Red Bull Munich will play its 800th game in the German Ice Hockey League in Ingolstadt. Christian Winkler, Managing Director Sports Red Bull Ice Hockey, looks back on a special journey and names his three biggest highlights.
"800 DEL games - insane! You can see how time flies," says Winkler in amazement. He has experienced practically all 799 games since our promotion in 2010 and has been up close and personal at the four German championships. "It's actually impossible to pick out my three highlights because there were simply so many," says Winkler. But he tries anyway.

// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
Top 1: Our "most beautiful" defeat
"Among the top 3 is definitely the first DEL game in Mannheim," Winkler recalls the premiere on September 3, 2010 at the Eagles (3:4 n. V.) and explains: "We got a point right away and Stephane Julien scored our first DEL goal." Since then, there have been significantly more wins than defeats.
Top 2: We. Are. Champions!
In the 2015/16 season, the time had come: the Red Bulls won the title for the first time after a sweep in the final series against Wolfsburg. For Winkler, an essential part of the top moments in the DEL: "The first championship in Wolfsburg in 2016 - an unforgettable moment," he explains with a smile. The trophy also went to Munich in each of the following two years.

Top 3: Olympic Ice Stadium "explodes"
In 2018, the Red Bulls had to go the full distance for the first time in a final series against Eisbären Berlin. In the decisive seventh game, we won spectacularly 6:3 in front of our home crowd at the Olympic Ice Stadium. For Winkler, the highlight par excellence: "Oberwiesenfeld exploded. We played an incredible game."

Four coaches for 800 games
Four coaches have stood behind the boards for us in the DEL. Promotion coach Pat Cortina made way for Pierre Pagé in 2013. 2014 saw the start of the most successful era in our club's history under Don Jackson.
After four championship titles, the DEL record-breaking coach ended his unique coaching career at the end of the past season. Toni Söderholm took over before this season. The Finn experienced Jackson as a player and was one of the assistant captains at our first championship in 2016.

Club legends and statistics
The captain at the time was Michael Wolf - one of the best goal scorers in DEL history and a legend at the Red Bulls. After Wolf's career ended in 2019, Patrick Hager took over the "C" on the chest. Other captains included premiere goalscorer Julien and Felix Petermann.
Daryl Boyle has also secured his place in the Munich history books. The defender made 514 appearances in nine seasons, making him our record player in the DEL. Boyle belongs to the elite circle of players who have won all four championships.
Danke, Daryl Boyle!
// PERSONAL
Our top scorer is Trevor Parkes: The Canadian has contributed 117 goals to our total of 2584 DEL goals. Since promotion, the fans have also enjoyed 488 victories.
Top 3+1: Winkler's bonus highlight
Winkler has also added a personal moment to his top 3: "Last year's final against Ingolstadt with Don Jackson's last game after 1072 DEL games simply has to be mentioned here too." Since the 2014/15 season, the Red Bulls have never finished a regular season worse than second place. We've finished first five times. Each time under Jackson.

The next chapter can begin
799 games with numerous goosebump moments - and the Red Bulls are not finished yet. Next season, we will move out of the Olympic Ice Stadium and into our new home: the SAP Garden. Winkler: "We're looking forward to the next 200 games and the era in our new temple. Then we'll be at 1000 - and then we'll see!"
But first, our anniversary duel is on the agenda: the derby at ERC Ingolstadt on Thursday (7:30 pm - LIVE on our blog & on MagentaSport).
