Gameplay
Filip Varejcka tested HIFK goalkeeper Niko Hovinen in the second minute, and a little later Helsinki appeared dangerously in front of Daniel Allavena's goal for the first time. Good chances, but no top-class goals. Those were missing for the time being. Instead, the duel lived on intensity and aggressive defensive work. The game went into the first intermission without any goals.
The game picked up speed after the change of ends. The Finns increased the pressure on Allavena, who acrobatically prevented the deficit (23rd). But Munich also had phases of urgency. One of them led to the 1:0 by Fischer, who celebrated his goal debut for the Red Bulls after preparation by Maximilian Kastner (28.). The lead did not last long, however, as HIFK equalized half a minute later through Juha Jääskä (29th). Just before the second break, Kristian Vesalainen put the Finns ahead for the first time (38th).
The Red Bulls had the first top chance in the final period, but Veit Oswald only hit the post (42nd). Both teams continued to give nothing to each other. Strong for HIFK: the power play. Iiro Pakarinen took advantage of one of the overtime opportunities to make it 3:1 (49.). DeSousa created some more suspense with his goal (51st), but Miro Väänänen answered promptly with the 4:2 (51st). Munich tried everything again, but the result remained unchanged.
