Great emotions in the Olympic Ice Stadium! This is how the Red Bulls' season finale went
Sunday, 14. April 2024 | EHC Red Bull München: That was the end of the season at the Olympic Ice Stadium
Great emotions in the Olympic Ice Stadium! This is how the Red Bulls' season finale went// NEWSA great chapter in Munich ice hockey history came to an end on Saturday. EHC Red Bull München hosted the season finale in the time-honoured Olympic Ice Stadium. Around 1,500 fans came and made the stadium walls shake one last time.
"Thank you for the incredible support this year. You were masterful," Christian Winkler (Managing Director Sports Red Bull Ice Hockey) began his speech on the ice in front of the Nordkurve.
Behind us lies a season with "ups and downs", but Winkler assured the fans in attendance: "With you behind us, we will really attack again next season." Then in our new home: the SAP Garden.
Home game atmosphere without ice hockey
But first it was time to say goodbye. The last dance in the Olympic Ice Stadium started at noon on the stadium forecourt. Still without the Red Bulls, but with cool drinks and a colorful supporting program. Then, at 2:15 p.m., a special moment: our beloved arena opened its doors for the last time.

The Nordkurve filled up quickly. At 15:22, the noise level rose rapidly as the team took to the stage to the sounds of the ACDC classic "Hells Bells". A great atmosphere, comparable to our home games. Winkler looked back on "an incredible time in an incredibly emotional stadium".
Captain Patrick Hager also spoke of a "special arena" and an "ice hockey flair" that is no longer so common in the DEL. However, Hager was already looking ahead: "With your support and the style of play we want to display in the SAP Garden, we can hopefully keep it that way."
Söderholm: "I've landed in a special city"
Our coach Toni Söderholm was also grateful to be part of this story. "I finished my active career here. And I have to say: I ended up in a special city, in a special ice stadium and with very special fans," Söderholm emphasized.
Insights from Bittner: "Losing a bit of your identity"
One of the crowd's favorites is Dominik Bittner - even though he missed half of his first season. "As a professional, you're used to a certain daily routine. And that's taken away from you overnight," explained our defender on stage, adding: "You're no longer in the dressing room, you don't take the away trips and you lose your identity to a certain extent."

One last time at the Olympic Ice Stadium: Red Bulls say goodbye to their fans
Our number 3 is working on his comeback after a lengthy injury and wants to attack again in the new season.
Winkler: "The Nordkurve was the heart of the stadium"
For once, however, the star of the day was not our team, but the Olympic Ice Stadium. From 1967 to 2024, the time-honored hall at Oberwiesenfeld was the venue for Munich ice hockey and a major chapter in the history of our club. "I think we will often think back to our beautiful, cozy and loud Oberwiesenfeld. Every home game was a highlight. And the Nordkurve was the heart of the arena," emphasized Winkler.
After a final "Humba" together, the players returned to the stadium forecourt. There, the players fulfilled photo and autograph requests and rounded off this very special day with a cold drink.
With this in mind: goodbye, take care and see you next season in the SAP Garden!
