In the 900 Club: Captain Hager's impressive career
Wednesday, 29. November 2023 | EHC Red Bull München: Patrick Hager with 900 DEL games
In the 900 Club: Captain Hager's impressive career"Hope that a few more games will be added"// NEWSThe setting for Patrick Hager's anniversary last Sunday could hardly have been more fitting: A sold-out Oberwiesenfeld for the top game against the Adler Mannheim. And the result was also right at the end.
Hager reached a personal milestone with his 900th DEL game in the 5:1 win. "Of course it's a nice number. You're always happy when you reach the next hundred," said our number 52.
A leader on the ice and in the dressing room
Hager also impressively underlined his qualities against the Kurpfalz team, which have made him one of the best center forwards in the PENNY DEL for years. Blocking shots, driving checks, winning duels and bullies, getting under the skin of his opponent. In short: Hager once again did the "little things" so often cited in ice hockey right.

He also created the odd goalscoring opportunity and was a vocal spur to his teammates. "Hagi simply plays great. He works hard every day and makes sure he stays fit and always carries us along as a team. And that's why I'm so happy for him that he was able to crown this anniversary with a win," praised his currently injured teammate Max Daubner in an interview with MagentaSport.
Hager is also known for his clear words. As someone who puts his finger in the wound when necessary and addresses things openly. His word in the dressing room counts!
Three championship titles in 16 DEL seasons
Hager is now a member of the 900 club. That puts him in fourth place among all active DEL players. Only Moritz Müller (Cologne, 1,032 games), Philip Gogulla (Düsseldorf, 1,031) and Daniel Pietta (Ingolstadt, 966) are ahead of him.

"That shows that I've been around for a few years," he emphasized with a grin. Indeed! The Upper Bavarian, who learned the ABC of ice hockey in Rosenheim, joined the German Ice Hockey League back in 2007 in the Krefeld Pinguine jersey. Via Ingolstadt, where Hager won his first championship title in 2014, and Cologne, his path led him to the Bavarian capital in 2017. He went on to win two more championships with the Red Bulls in 2018 and 2023. The German international, who won Olympic silver in Pyeongchang in 2018, runs hot year after year, especially in the play-offs. It is not for nothing that he is ranked first among all active cracks with 135 play-off games.

On course for 1,000
Hager has now taken to the ice 341 times for EHC Red Bull Munich in the DEL. "I hope I can play a few more games and stay healthy." We wish you the same, dear Hagi!
In the next home game against the Pinguins Bremerhaven (get your tickets now), the experienced attacker will take the first step towards the 1,000-game mark. And maybe on Friday he'll also manage to score the 533rd point of his professional career.
