Possible season end for Bittner: defender needs surgery
Wednesday, 17. January 2024 | EHC Red Bull München: Dominik Bittner out for a long time
Possible season end for Bittner: defender needs surgery"I will get involved in a different way"// NEWSEHC Red Bull München will have to do without Dominik Bittner for at least twelve weeks. The defenseman suffered an upper body injury last Sunday in the home game against Eisbären Berlin and will require surgery.
"The diagnosis was of course a shock and extremely disappointing. As a player, you always want to help your team as best you can on the ice, but that's not possible for a long time now. But I'll be doing my bit for the boys in other ways and hope to be of use in alternative ways. My personal focus is now on my rehab, which I will tackle with everything I have after the operation," announced Bittner.
New signing Bittner with 44 games for Munich this season
The 31-year-old moved to Munich from the Grizzlys Wolfsburg in the spring of this year. The 27-time international has played 36 league games (2 goals | 7 assists) and eight Champions League games (1 assist) so far this season. During his career to date, the Weilheim-born right winger has also played for the PENNY DEL teams from Mannheim, Schwenningen and Wolfsburg since 2012. During this time, he has been on the ice in 520 DEL and 30 CHL games.
The Red Bulls' next game is on January 18. Coach Toni Söderholm's team will then face the Panthers in the German Ice Hockey League at 7:30 pm in Augsburg. The home game against league leaders Pinguins Bremerhaven follows on Sunday (January 21) (4:30 p.m. - get your tickets now).
