Hometown, weddings - and lots of preparation: how our import players spend the summerFitness trainer Thomas Winkler provides insights into the training plan// NEWSAfter some exhausting months, our players are currently on their summer break. Our import players in particular are often travelling far away from home. Holidays and weddings are on the agenda, as are training sessions.
Including the games at the Red Bulls Salute, the Champions League and the PENNY DEL, the EHC Red Bull München professionals played 71 matches in all competitions last season. In addition, there were the international matches of our national players.
A heavy workload, after which the summer is a welcome opportunity for the players to recharge their batteries for the new season. Of course, the break is not without training.
Individual training plans during the summer break
"Our players also keep fit during the summer break with general fitness training. In other words: strength training, endurance training, speed training, core stabilization training, speed training and much more," explains our fitness trainer Thomas Winkler. As the summer progresses, the training will become more specific - at the latest when the first sessions on the ice are completed.

Die Urlaubsgrüße unserer Importspieler
Beforehand, Winkler develops individual training plans. "The basis for this is always performance diagnostics. For some players, we focus on endurance training. Others are given a higher workload in the area of strength training. Players who have previously been injured or have had problems undergo rehabilitation training," explains the fitness coach.
Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster!
Although Winkler is in constant contact with the players, the recovery of our boys is of course not neglected. However, our defender Les Lancaster had less time to rest, for whom things got serious this summer and who had to plan and organize a celebration of a special kind. "Maddy and I got married on May 11 - I officially made her a Lancaster," says our number 74 proudly. "Two weeks later, we celebrated the wedding of our best friends in New York - and now we have a friends' wedding in Toronto coming up. A summer of love."
Things also got romantic for Jonathon Blum. "We spent most of our time here in Munich. However, we went to Lake Como for a wedding and then spent another two weeks in California," says the US native.

Holiday greetings from our six import players
Fellow countryman Ben Smith also returned home after a family vacation: "We spent ten days in Cyprus with my wife Millie's parents, her aunt and uncle. Now we're going back to Boston. We're staying in the USA until mid-July to visit family and friends before heading back to Munich for the new season."
In addition to the Blum, Lancaster and Smith families, we also received vacation greetings from Emil Johansson, Trevor Parkes and Chris DeSousa. You can see how our six current import players are spending their summer in the picture gallery.
