The forwards of the Red Bulls 2024/25‘Will help in all situations’ | Forward Tobias Rieder in his first interview// PERSONELEHC Red Bull München has signed a real NHL star in Tobias Rieder. In his first interview, the 31-year-old explains how he wants to contribute to the Red Bulls' offence. With Rieder, there are currently 13 forwards in the line-up.
"I've already played under Toni Söderholm at the 2021 World Championship and the 2022 Olympic Games and I'm looking forward to it again. I know a lot of the guys from the national team. They contacted me, of course," says Rieder, explaining his "long-distance reception" in Munich.
This is what our 2024/25 forward line looks like
By DEB colleagues, Sturm means our World Cup attackers Yasin Ehliz and Maximilian Kastner, among others. The 31-year-old will play with both of them in Munich in the future. In addition to the three mentioned above, Chris DeSousa, Andreas Eder, Markus Eisenschmid, Patrick Hager, Nikolaus Heigl, Nico Krämmer, Veit Oswald, Trevor Parkes, Ben Smith and Filip Varejcka will also be on the hunt for goals in the 2024/25 season.

Rieder wants to contribute offensively and defensively
Rieder, who can look back on 492 NHL games (67 goals | 83 assists), wants to use his experience and his strengths as a forward in the future. "I'm trying to show what I've excelled at in my career so far in Munich as well. Of course I want to play my part in the offense, but it's extremely important to me not to neglect the defense," the forward defines his new role at Red Bull Munich and sums up briefly: "I want to help the team in all situations."
Our new signing is currently still training in Canada, where he is preparing for the upcoming DEL season. The 31-year-old became a father for the first time two months ago, which is why his daughter Collins is taking up a lot of his time in addition to his preparations.
"Our daughter keeps us pretty busy. My wife Laura, who comes from Kitchener, and I built a house here together three years ago," explains Rieder, who is very much looking forward to returning to Bavaria despite owning his own home in Canada: "I think it's just a good time to come back to Germany after the birth of our daughter. Munich was also a great opportunity to be closer to the family in Landshut again."
Reunion with Buffalo at the SAP Garden
Another anticipation factor: the SAP Garden. "What I've seen and heard about the new arena so far - it's going to be outstanding," enthuses Rieder, who will face his former club in the sold-out opening game. The forward played for the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL for a year. Now there will be a reunion in Germany.
The creation of SAP Gardens in fast-forward
"It's something very special to be able to compete against the best players in the world. There's no better way to inaugurate the arena. It will be something unique - for me, for the young players, for the city and, of course, for the fans," says a delighted Rieder.
Finally, our new number 8 addressed a few personal words directly to the fans of EHC Red Bull München: "Hello fans! I'm really looking forward to playing for you in the next few years. I can hardly wait for it to finally start - and to see you in Munich."
