At 7:30 pm we welcome the Schwenninger Wild Wings to the Olympia-Eisstadion (live on MagentaSport & on our blog).

The Red Bulls have eight games left in the main round, four of them at home. Against Schwenningen, coach Toni Söderholm's team will face a direct competitor in the battle for the top spots.

The Wild Wings have collected 76 points so far and are fourth in the table, while Munich are sixth with 72 points and one game less. The goal is clear: we want to make up three points on the visitors with a win.

Our boys can once again count on vociferous support from the stands. Because the Oberwiesenfeld is sold out for the ninth time this season. Tickets can therefore only be obtained with a bit of luck via the secondary market in the ticket exchange.

Home debut for Les Lancaster

Our defensive newcomer Les Lancaster will make his first appearance in the Olympia-Eisstadion against Schwenningen. The 29-year-old is already excited about his debut. "I'm really looking forward to my first game at home and in front of our fans. I'll try to keep things simple on the ice again," said our new number 74 in the run-up to the game.

The US-American was able to use the recent break to get to know his new home away from the rink. "I had the opportunity to explore Munich with my fiancée. It was great," he enthuses.

So the time off had its advantages. "Not just for me, but for the whole team. Because the lads were able to recover a bit," says Lancaster. So now it's time for the final spurt of the main round with full batteries.

A perfect start

Our opponents from the Black Forest got off to a perfect start after the short break. Head coach Steve Walker's team won 3:0 against league leaders Eisbären Berlin on Tuesday evening. Goaltender Joacim Eriksson, who is once again one of the best goalies in the league, recorded his third shutout of the season. The two top scorers Alexander Karachun and Kyle Platzer (both 36 points) also played a big part in the victory with their goals.

Top at home, problems away from home

The team from Neckarstadt is a power at home. The Wild Wings have already won 16 games in front of their own fans (56 points), making them the best home team in the PENNY DEL to date. The Red Bulls follow in second place with 50 points. The situation is different in foreign stadiums. The Swans have only picked up 20 points away from home, with only Nuremberg scoring fewer (16).

Nevertheless, Lancaster believes it will be a hot dance against an opponent that is still unknown to him. "I'm expecting a difficult game. At the end of the main round, every team is trying to get into the best possible position. So it won't be easy for us against any opponent," says the defender.

We last played the Wild Wings in mid-December - Munich won 3:0. We definitely want a repeat!
