Big bloodletting in Ingolstadt forward line
The Schanzers can rely on a number of regulars from last year's runner-up team on defense. New addition is the US-American Devin Williams (EV Regensburg, DEL2), who forms the goalie team with regular goalie Michael Garteig. Kevin Maginot (20 scorer points for the Löwen Frankfurt) and ex-Munich player Luca Zitterbart, who moved to Ingolstadt from Düsseldorf, are to further strengthen the defense.
On offense, however, important players such as Frederik Storm (Cologne), Justin Feser (Wolfsburg), Ty Ronning (Berlin) or Stefan Matteau (Columbus Blue Jackets) left the team. However, these four cornerstones were adequately replaced on paper. Center forward Andrew Rowe (SC Rapperswil-Jona Lakers) brings a lot of experience and quality with his 35 years, the Finn Patrik Virta was Finnish champion and Champions League winner with Tappara Tampere last year as assistant captain. Travis St. Denis brought 26 goals and 54 points to the Danube most recently with the Straubing Tigers, and Casey Bailey was one of the absolute pillars of the offense for three years in Iserlohn.
Back on the Throne: Munich German Champion for the Fourth Time
Last round's final series between the Red Bulls and the ERC was not only the highlight of last season, but also the first Bavarian derby in a final matchup in DEL history. In five high-class games, our boys finally prevailed and brought the fourth championship to Oberwiesenfeld.
In the current season, the Ingolstadt team is still struggling. On Friday, the finalists of the previous season lost the derby in Straubing with 1:3. With nine points from eight games so far, the Danube city team is only in tenth place in the table.
