Top 50: Parkes among the best goal scorers in DEL history Club record holder keeps on hitting// CURRENTIt could not have gone better: EHC Red Bull München picked up nine points in its home three-game sweep to secure the maximum points haul. One of our guarantors of success was Trevor Parkes.

The 32-year-old striker scored three times in the past three home games - and most importantly, he scored the game-winning goals in the duels against Frankfurt and Nuremberg. The statisticians rubbed their hands. They knew there was something to report! Parkes increased his goal tally in the German Ice Hockey League (PENNY DEL) to 160. This puts him among the top 50 goal scorers in DEL history.

Pragmatic and ice-cold in "my office

Parkes has the goal-scoring gene. His hunting ground is directly in front of the opponent's box. "I call this room my office," the Canadian emphasizes. The closer he gets to his workplace, the more goal-hungry he becomes. It's then all about getting the puck over the line. "My goals are often not the most beautiful, but they all count. That's crucial," says Parkes.

Among his great strengths is outstanding hand-eye coordination. It is the product of talent and training. He uses that skill to deflect pucks. His quickness of action helps him be faster than opposing defensemen after deflections. As a result, he cracked the 20-goal mark five times in the main round since his Germany debut in 2016.

Right in the middle of the concert of the greats

The two-time DEL top scorer needed only 385 games for his 160 goals in the German top flight. That means he scored an average of 0.42 goals per game. Only five players in the top 50 have a better goals-per-game average than the Canadian.

In the Red Bulls' all-time scoring list, "Parkesy" has long since pushed our club legend Michael Wolf (104) into second place with 113 goals to date. With his goal rate in the Munich jersey (41 percent), he also has nothing to hide. Neither do NHL superstars like Paul Stastny (54 percent) and Blake Wheeler (40 percent), who enchanted our fans during the 2012/13 NHL lockout.

While Stastny and Wheeler have long since left Munich, Parkes continues to score diligently this season. After eight games, he has five goals. Extrapolating, he would end up with 33 goals by the end of the main round - surpassing his old personal DEL main round best of 28 goals. We're keeping our fingers crossed that he can actually do that and wish our number 84 the best of luck in the remaining 44 games.
