This feat has only been achieved by Adler Mannheim. In the 2001/02 season, the squares celebrated twelve consecutive victories in foreign halls between November 23, 2001 and January 18, 2002. Coach then as now: Bill Stewart. The Canadian coach will do everything on Friday (19:30 | LIVE in our blog and on MagentaSport) not only to end his team's three-game losing streak, but also to defend "his" more than 21-year-old record.
"If we have already won twelve..."
The Adler started their latest record-breaking run at the Kassel Huskies. Mannheim then celebrated its twelfth away win at the Moskitos Essen, and four days later the series was over after a loss to the Hannover Scorpions. None of these teams will be able to give us a leg up, because in the meantime both Kassel (DEL2) and Essen and Hannover (both Oberliga Nord) are no longer in the PENNY DEL, as is well known.
The Adler Mannheim, on the other hand, are capable of doing so; after all, the Munich team conceded its last away defeat in the very arena in which it will compete on Friday night: The SAP Arena in Mannheim. For Justin Schütz, however, it's clear: "If we've already won twelve away games in a row, of course we want to set a new record now." That would be the temporary crowning of the Munich tour.
