Four wins in the bag: Red Bulls also want to win in Berlin
Saturday, 09. December 2023 | DEL: EHC Red Bull Munich travels to Eisbären Berlin
Four wins in the bag: Red Bulls also want to win in Berlin// DEL - PRELIMINARY REPORTEHC Red Bull Munich's current winning streak continued on Friday (2:1 against Wolfsburg). Already on Sunday at 3:15 pm (LIVE on ServusTV, MagentaSport & on our blog) we are guests at the Eisbären Berlin.
In the duel between the champions of the past two seasons, the Berliners came out on top in the first meeting in mid-October (6:2). It was the Red Bulls' first defeat after four wins in a row against the Eisbären: Last season, Munich won all main round games. In the German capital, our boys came out on top twice (3:2, 4:3). So we know only too well how to win in Berlin.

Mid-table at home, top of the league away from home
Although the 2022 champions have regained their former strength this year after missing out on the play-offs last season, things are still not going so well at home in the Mercedes-Benz Arena. Coach Serge Aubin's team has picked up 18 points in twelve games at home (six wins, six defeats). With this record, the team finds itself in the lower midfield of the home table.
In November, Berlin lost four games in a row in front of their own fans. The 0:1 penalty shootout loss to Cologne was low-scoring, while the wild 6:9 against Wolfsburg was spectacular. December was then heralded with a 3:1 win against Frankfurt.
Away from home, however, Berlin are currently by far the most successful team in the league. No other team has a similar away record (eleven away wins) at the halfway point of the PENNY DEL main round. On Friday, Berlin won the top game in Bremerhaven 4:3 n.V. and thus defended first place.
Frederik Tiffels back in top form
A former Munich player has also played his part in the Eisbären's strong season so far. After two seasons in the Bavarian capital, Frederik Tiffels moved to the Spree in the summer. The attacker usually plays in a line with Tobias Eder, another former Munich player. Tiffels has already scored 24 points, making him one of his team's top scorers.
If the Cologne native continues to score at this rate, he would come close to the figures from his first year in a Red Bulls jersey. Back then, he scored 49 points in the main round (twelve goals, 37 assists) and added a further six assists in the playoffs. Last season, he scored a total of 32 points.
On Sunday, however, Tiffels can go home empty-handed. That would definitely increase the chances of an away win for our team on the 2nd Advent.
