Course of the game
The Red Bulls got off to an energetic start in Maximilian Kastner's 500th DEL game. In the second minute, Joacim Eriksson saved the visitors from going behind with a brilliant save against Maximilian Daubner. Shortly afterwards, the Swede was beaten: Rieder held out his stick at the far post after Jonathon Blum's pinpoint pass - 1:0 (3rd). Munich then controlled the game and defended consistently in front of Simon Wolf's goal. Although Schwenningen fired a lot of shots, Wolf did not have to defuse any high-caliber shots at first. Shortly before the break, however, the goalkeeper had no chance after Zach Senyshyn's remarkable individual effort (20th). The teams went into the break at 1:1.
The Red Bulls also got off to the better start in the second period: Hirose scored right into the corner after Daubner's preparatory work (22'). The four-time German champions did not let up even after taking the lead again and continued to apply pressure. Eriksson was under constant attack, but despite several top chances, no further goals were scored at first. That changed in the 39th minute: Krämmer made it 3:1 to give the home side a two-goal lead going into the final period.
Schwenningen initially failed to find a way against the Red Bulls' defense - and yet the visitors made it exciting once more. Matthew Puempel scored the equalizer after a counter-attack (47'). The Wild Wings now wanted to equalize, but Kaltenhauser's team also had good chances to score a fourth goal. In the 56th minute, it was Brooks who made it 4:2 with his goal.
