High-flyer Oswald reveals his recipe for successSuccess with the Red Bulls and the U20 national team// NEWSWhen Veit Oswald accelerates, a murmur often goes through the Olympic Ice Stadium. The 19-year-old forward wins the hearts of the fans thanks to his spectacular style of play. And he scores important goals - both nationally and internationally.
A little more than a week ago in the home game against the Eisbären, Oswald delivered a sample of his skills. He grabbed the disc next to his own goal, shook off the first opponent and left another defender standing. A third Berliner tried to stop him - but was too late. Oswald had finished off his solo run with a hard, well-placed shot. It was probably his best goal in the German Ice Hockey League to date, although it was no exception.

The Landshut native also shone on the international stage. At the turn of the year, he led the German junior national team to victory at the U20 World Championship in Sweden. As top scorer with five points in four appearances. His sensational solo goal in the relegation thriller against Norway, when he outdanced an opponent and then gave the goalkeeper no chance.
Oswald's rare gift
Oswald is fast, technically adept and courageous. He seeks out 1-on-1 duels - and often comes out on top. A rare gift. He made his breakthrough this season. His first DEL goal on October 5, 2023 against Iserlohn was a milestone.
In the meantime, celebrating after his own goals has become routine. Last Sunday, he scored his seventh goal in the German Ice Hockey League in the 4:2 win against league leaders Bremerhaven. The fans rewarded him for it: After the final whistle, the youngster was allowed to start the "Humba" in front of the Nordkurve for the second time this season.

Focus on the little things
Oswald does not complicate his game. Following the Bremerhaven game, he revealed his recipe for success: "I focus on the little things I've often described and always make a point of moving my legs and winning the duels. And I concentrate on the passes and a good forecheck." He puts his personal goal tally to one side during the games: "If I thought about that, I'd forget about the little things. That wouldn't be good for my game."
Oswald and Heigl provide depth in the squad
Against Bremerhaven, the fourth line with the youngsters Oswald and "Klausi" Heigl delivered once again. Afterwards there was special praise from Christian Winkler, Managing Director Sports Red Bull Ice Hockey: "We have really good depth in the squad. The youngsters march like firefighters and give us a lot of time in the offensive zone."

The fact that the duo has made such a big leap is also thanks to coach Toni Söderholm, emphasized Winkler. Because the coach trusts his talents - and they do not disappoint him.
Oswald's top rate
Oswald scores on average every 42 minutes. Only top scorer Chris DeSousa (almost 41 minutes) is better for the Red Bulls. However, while DeSousa has scored a third of his 15 goals this season in overtime, Oswald has scored each of his seven goals in 5-on-5 situations. And at full team strength, there is no way around the 19-year-old when it comes to goals-per-game.
Oswald can continue to work on his statistics next weekend. The Red Bulls first host the Kölner Haie on Friday (7:30 p.m. - get your tickets now) before hosting Adler Mannheim on Sunday (2 p.m.).
