Course of the game
Nuremberg got off to the better start, the Red Bulls' defense was challenged several times. The guests created top chances - among others Daniel Schmölz missed completely free-standing in overtime (4th minute). The Munich offense showed itself dangerous in front of the goal for the first time in the ninth minute - and promptly it rang. Street made it 1:0 in overtime after Austin Ortega's assist (9th). But the Ice Tigers had the perfect answer and turned the game around before the first intermission with goals from Cole Maier (11th) and Ryan Stoa (19th).
The Ice Tigers also came out of the dressing room better in the middle period. Elis Hede scored the first well played attack of the guests to make it 1:3 (24.). The two-goal lead lasted only 39 seconds, however, before Daubner reduced the score to 2:3 (25). Munich continued and Leon Hungerecker in the goal of the Ice Tigers moved more and more into the center. In the 28th minute, the goalkeeper had to make a third save. Parkes scored the 3:3 - at the same time the score after 40 minutes.
The Red Bulls had to do without the injured Yasin Ehliz in the final period. But even without the player of the year, coach Toni Söderholm's team was still on the winning track: Parkes made it 4:3 (43rd) after a great assist from Veit Oswald. For the goal scorer it was already the 16th goal against Nuremberg in the DEL. The Ice Tigers then tried everything again, but Daniel Allavena was the last stop. Thus, the narrow lead held until the final phase. Shortly before the end of the game, the guests took a risk with a sixth field player, but the goal was scored on the other side. Kastner's empty-net goal made it 5:3 (59).
