Gameplay
Lively start in Zug: Both teams were very eager to play and had their first shotsabtas. First, Veit Oswald tested EVZ goalie Leonardo Genoni (4th), shortly after Mathias Niederberger made two strong saves (7th, 8th). In the 13th minute, however, the German national goalkeeper was beaten. Marc Michaelis pushed the puck over the line from close range. In the second period, too, there was no long scan. The Red Bulls started with a lot of pressure, but Chris DeSousa and Max Daubner (22nd) could not overcome the strong Genoni. The German champions continued to dominate the game, but the goals came from the other side: Louis Robin (33rd) and Dario Simion (37th) made it 3-0, which also meant that Daniel Allavena, who came on for Niederberger after 30 minutes, had to make his first save of the season.
In the final period, Munich initially survived a shorthanded situation. After that, chances on both sides, the biggest had EVZ defender Dominik Schlumpf, who only hit the post. In the 52nd minute, the Swiss did better: Gregory Hofmann finished a counterattack to make it 4:0. Tim Muggli (56th) and Jan Kovar (58th) added two more goals to make it 6:0.
