Course of the game
Controlled and concentrated Munich, defensively compact and lurking on the counter-attack Iserlohn - that's how the opponents acted in the first 20 minutes. Accordingly, the scoring scenes on both sides were few and far between. The best chances were Ben Street in a one-on-one in front of Kevin Reich (8th) and the released Max Daubner, who failed at the Roosters goalie (16th). Just 23 seconds before the siren, the Red Bulls scored: Krämmer swept the puck into the net from close range on the power play to make it 1-0 at the break for Munich after a beautiful combination.
In the middle period it took less than four minutes until the next goal. Second overtime, second goal Red Bulls - and the first DEL season goal for Blum, who welded the puck from the blue line into the goal (24.). After that, superior Munich pressed for the 3-0 without success. When Iserlohn brought its rare attacks on goal, Red Bulls goalkeeper Mathias Niederberger was on the spot. So it went into the second intermission with a 2:0 for the hosts.
In the final period, both teams were full of energy and offense, but only Munich was allowed to celebrate: First Oswald dusted in the 47th minute to make it 3-0 - the 19-year-old's first DEL goal. Then Eder scored into the empty Roosters goal 1:17 minutes before the end for the 4:0 final score.
