It is questionable whether the top DEL scorer of the last five seasons with 114 goals (together with Jan Urbas) will be able to play at all this season.
The 33-year-old forward had to leave the ice in Switzerland after just a few minutes. The initial fears have been confirmed after thorough examinations, Parkes will have to undergo surgery and will not be available to the Munich team for several months.
Winkler on Parkes: "Not the record goalscorer for nothing"
Coach Toni Söderholm's team will therefore be without the most successful DEL goalscorer in the club's history. Parkes has already scored 128 goals for Munich in the top German league, no other Red Bulls professional has a better record. The family man, who has been under contract with EHC Red Bull München since 2018, is also one of the longest-serving players for the four-time German champions. In 370 competitive games for Munich (332 DEL | 38 CHL) to date, Parkes has scored a total of 149 goals.
"This is incredibly bitter," says Christian Winkler, Managing Director Sports Red Bull Ice Hockey. "Trevor is not the record goalscorer for nothing. He has always been an absolute top performer in the team in recent years. Nevertheless, we are looking ahead and will now support him as best we can in his rehabilitation," continued Winkler.
