"After our three wins, the injury comes at a bitter time. Now we have to wipe our mouths, give our all in rehab and come back even stronger if possible," explained the 31-year-old, who is expected to miss EHC Red Bull Munich until the end of February.
Kastner takes his first break since March 9, 2022
Until his injury, Kastner played all PENNY DEL games for the four-time German champions this season and last season, recording 52 scoring points (19 goals, 33 assists). No other DEL player made as many appearances during this period. In addition, the Garmisch-Partenkirchen native also played 15 times in the Champions League and 20 times for the German national team for Munich during this period.
Kastner last missed the league game in Augsburg on March 9, 2022. The 31-year-old made his debut with the Red Bulls in 2014 and has since appeared in a total of 526 competitive games (465 DEL | 61 CHL) for his team.
EHC Red Bull München's next game is on January 12. Coach Toni Söderholm's team will then face the Ice Tigers in the German Ice Hockey League at 7:30 pm in Nuremberg. The home game against second-placed Eisbären Berlin follows on Sunday (January 14) at 4:30 pm.
