Accordingly, eight defenders are currently in the Red Bulls' squad. Negotiations with Andrew MacWilliam are still ongoing.

In addition to the established players Konrad Abeltshauser, Dominik Bittner, Jonathon Blum, Maximilian Daubner, Sten Fischer and Jakob Weber, who were all part of the team at the start of last season, Les Lancaster and Emil Johansson will also remain with the Munich team.

Lancaster moved from 16-time champions Ilves Tampere to the Bavarian capital in February of this year. The 29-year-old American was the highest-scoring defenseman in Finland's top ice hockey league in the 2022-23 season. Johansson joined EHC Red Bull München a few days earlier from eleven-time Finnish champions HC TPS Turku. The 28-year-old Swede had already played 21 games for the Red Bulls before his guest appearance in Turku in the previous season and won the German championship with the Munich club in April 2023.

Talks with MacWilliam are still ongoing

Talks with MacWilliam have not yet been concluded. The sporting management wants to make a decision on whether he will remain with the Isarstädter by the end of May at the latest.

In addition to the eight defensemen, Munich's goalkeepers for the 2024/25 season have already been confirmed. With Mathias Niederberger, Daniel Allavena, Christopher Kolarz and Simon Wolf, there are currently four goalkeepers in the Red Bulls' squad.
