Return of Walker and Boyle: Red Bulls host Wild Wings
Saturday, 16. December 2023 | DEL preview: Walker and Boyle visit EHC Red Bull Munich
Return of Walker and Boyle: Red Bulls host Wild WingsFamily game day on the 3rd Advent// DEL PREVIEWFor the first time this season, the Schwenninger Wild Wings will be guests at Oberwiesenfeld on Sunday. And with them the two ex-Munich players Steve Walker and Daryl Boyle. The game kicks off at 14:00 (live on MagentaSport & on our blog).
In a hard-fought derby, EHC Red Bull Munich narrowly lost 2-1 at ERC Ingolstadt on Thursday evening to start the second half of the season. There were plenty of scoring chances for our boys: Andi Eder and Nico Krämmer, for example, hit the crossbar and post. However, the Schanzer scored the decisive goal in the final period. "We created a lot. We still have to change a few little things and be more tenacious in the duels when we have the ball in the offensive zone," said coach Toni Söderholm after the Red Bulls' 800th DEL game. This should be implemented against Schwenningen.

Boyle cracks the 700
The clash with the Wild Wings sees two former Munich players return to their old stomping grounds for the first time. We welcome Schwenningen coach Steve Walker and defenceman Daryl Boyle to the Olympic Ice Stadium. At the place where they both became German champions with us in April.
Our long-time number 6, Boyle wore the Munich jersey for nine years and is the Red Bulls' record player with 514 DEL appearances, also lives up to his nickname "Mr. Reliable" in the Black Forest. The 36-year-old is a very important factor in the defense around top goalie Joacim Eriksson.
Boyle played his 700th DEL game last Sunday. Schwenningen lost to Nuremberg 3:4 on penalties - only their second home defeat of the season.

Walker with the Wild Wings for two more years
Head coach Walker also moved to the Black Forest in the summer after four years as an assistant alongside Don Jackson. The Wild Wings are his first stop as head coach in the DEL. Under the Canadian's leadership, the team has had a strong season so far. The team from Neckarstadt is currently on course for the playoffs.
It's no coincidence that "Walks" extended his contract in Schwenningen for another two years last week. "I've really enjoyed my time here so far, because I work incredibly well and enjoy working with the people in the organization," he said on the club's own website.
As much as we are looking forward to seeing them again on Sunday: The points should of course stay in Munich!
