Visiting the home-strong Wild Wings: Munich travels to Schwenningen// DEL - PRELIMINARY REPORTAfter Friday's 5-3 defeat against Ingolstadt, EHC Red Bull Munich travel to Schwenninger Wild Wings on Sunday. At 3:15 pm (LIVE on MagentaSport and on our blog), the next showdown with the team from Neckarstadt is scheduled.
Four weeks ago, we were already guests in the Black Forest. On October 20, the Wild Wings prevailed 3:1 in a heated game. Max Daubner gave Munich the early lead, but Schwenningen came back and turned the game around. The team, which has two former Munich players in its ranks in coach Steve Walker and Daryl Boyle, is generally difficult to break down at home. The Wild Wings have picked up a strong 23 points from nine home games and have only lost one game in front of their own crowd (2:3 against Cologne).

NHL measures in the SChwarzwald
"We've had a good start to the season. We're brutally strong on the small ice surface," said Schwenningen's all-rounder Boaz Bassen recently on the club's own website. Small ice surface? Indeed: because the Helios Arena is played on NHL ice.
After the arena renovation in 2020, the playing surface will measure 60 meters long and 26 meters wide instead of the usual 60 x 30 meters in Europe. This naturally requires a certain amount of adjustment for every opposing team.

Balance in attack
But the Schwarzwald team has also recently recorded a win away from home. On Thursday, the Wild Wings came from 2:0 down to win 4:3 after overtime in Wolfsburg. Top scorer Alexander Karachun (eleven goals, six assists) did not score, but other forwards were on hand.
Phil Hungerecker scored a brace and Max Görtz also recorded three assists. The team is well-balanced, with danger coming from every line. While Schwenningen have struggled to score goals in recent years, they have been much better offensively so far this season. They have 61 goals to their name.
