Two wins, one defeat
Of course, no big words are needed before the derby. When the two teams meet, it's all about prestige. In the end, however, it's the result that counts and that's where our boys are ahead this season. Munich prevailed twice in three hard-fought games (5:4 and 3:2), while AEV won the first game 4:2.
And there is a good chance that the two teams will also put up a thrilling fight on Sunday. After all, every single point is at stake in the final spurt of the main round.

// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
DeSousa crowns comeback at the last second
The memories of the last game with the Panthers are still fresh. And we are only too happy to think back. The hosts were already leading 2:0 before Munich turned the tables in the second period. Augsburg then quickly went ahead again, but our boys showed great morale towards the end and were rewarded late on, almost with the final buzzer.
To summarize: Nine goals, several lead changes, two comebacks by the Red Bulls and the winning goal by Chris DeSousa 15 seconds before the end.
Defeat in Berlin
In order for such derby stories to be written in the coming season, the AEV must manage to stay in the league. Whether they will succeed is once again an open question. Just like Düsseldorf and Iserlohn, Augsburg are also worried about relegation.
However, there are justified hopes that coach Larry Mitchell's team can avoid the bottom of the table. The Panthers have won four out of seven games since the end of January, and even managed a 2:1 victory in Bremerhaven a few days ago. However, the away game at Eisbären Berlin on Friday was a clear 5-0 loss.

Kunyk back, but Trevelyan absence hurts
With the return of forward Cody Kunyk at the end of January, a sorely missed key player in attack has returned. The Canadian was out for weeks with an injury, but is still one of his team's most prolific scorers with 11 goals. Chris Collins has been in strong form in recent weeks, scoring and assisting regularly (14 goals, 12 assists).
The premature end of the season for T.J. Trevelyan (upper body) is bitter for the AEV. The 40-year-old veteran has always been in top form in home games against the Red Bulls.
