Red Bulls travel to Nürnberg with confidence
Tuesday, 18. February 2025 | DEL Preview, 46th matchday: EHC Red Bull München visit Nürnberg
Red Bulls travel to Nürnberg with confidence// DEL-PREVIEWEHC Red Bull München will be at the Nürnberg Ice Tigers on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The Bavarian duel will be available live as usual on MagentaSport, Sportdeutschland.TV and on our blog.
Konrad Abeltshauser, who played his 500th DEL game last Sunday, currently has an even bigger chest than usual. However, this is not due to the milestone he has reached or his favorite exercise in the gym - the bench press. It's due to the Red Bulls' winning streak under Don Jackson. Since the DEL record-breaking coach took over the helm, our boys are still unbeaten.
Abeltshauser explains Jackson's winning formula
"The Don just knows how to win. He's brought the winning formula back with him," explained Abeltshauser after last Sunday's 5:3 win against Löwen Frankfurt, adding: "Don hasn't changed much, but he has an eye for the little things like no other. And he manages to ensure that the things that are important to him are implemented immediately."

// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
Since Jackson's return, the Red Bulls have picked up 20 out of a possible 21 points, winning seven games in a row. We are in fourth place in the table with seven games to go in the main round - level on points with third-placed Adler Mannheim, who have, however, played one game less.
With another win in Nürnberg, our team wants to keep up the pressure on the Kurpfälzer team. Abeltshauser is relying on the regained self-confidence: "When you're on a run like this, everything is easier. The mood is immediately better, the grins on the faces are bigger. Because the table is tight, we can still make up ground."

Ice Tigers want a ticket to the 1st playoff round
For their part, the Nürnberg Ice Tigers will try to keep the three points in Franken. Coach Mitch O'Keefe and his team need every point to maintain their place in the top 10. With three wins in the last four games, the Franken have fended off the attacks of their rivals. Evan Barratt was also a guarantee of success in these games. The American is one of the outstanding players in this main round.
Top scorer Barratt stands out
With 55 points in 43 games, Barratt is in third place on the scorer list. He is the Ice Tigers' difference-maker, but not the only individual talent in the Franken squad. Owen Headrick is one of the strongest offensive defensemen this DEL season, while William Graber, Jeremy McKenna and Cole Maier, among others, have shone on offense. The Ice Tigers' power play is also highly dangerous thanks to their strong imports (27.1 percent).

Beware of the goal-scoring Maier
Maier leads the internal scoring charts with 20 goals. The goalscorer has already scored three times against the Red Bulls this season. Maier has also helped Nürnberg win two of their three head-to-head meetings this season. If Abeltshauser has his way, there won't be another one. The 32-year-old wants to equalize his season record with the Red Bulls on Wednesday and extend the winning streak to eight games.
