Unbeaten in 2024: Red Bulls want to continue the trend in NurembergEhliz ready for in-form former club// DEL - PRELIMINARY REPORTOnly EHC Red Bull München have taken the maximum possible nine points in the PENNY DEL since the turn of the year. The champions want to extend this streak on Friday (19:30 | LIVE on MagentaSport and in our blog) at the Nuremberg Ice Tigers.
Last weekend, the Red Bulls celebrated their second and third wins of the new year in Cologne (6:3) and against Frankfurt (2:1). Yasin Ehliz explains why things are going so well at the moment: "We've changed a few little things. That means we're closer to our opponents and force them to make mistakes."

Ehliz: "Can play even better"
Although the start of the year could hardly have gone better for coach Toni Söderholm's team, Ehliz announces: "We can play even better." The Red Bulls want to demonstrate that in Nuremberg. Our team goes into the game in fourth place in the table, the Ice Tigers are tenth. Our boys won the two previous duels 5:3 in the Olympia-Eisstadion. However, a lot has changed for the Franconians since the last encounter - especially in defense.
Stable Ice Tigers
For a long time, the defense was Nuremberg's biggest problem child. But coach Tom Rowe has stabilized the back line. And with this stability came back results and self-confidence. In the past two home games, the Ice Tigers have seen off league leaders Bremerhaven (4:2) and Mannheim (4:3 n. V.). Ehliz has also noticed this: "Nuremberg are playing a good season. They get everything out of themselves. They run a lot, work hard and play as a unit."

Serial offender Schmölz has a top season
One player who stands out from this unit is Daniel Schmölz. The 31-year-old is the Ice Tigers' top scorer with 29 points. On Friday, he will make his 500th appearance in the DEL. Just in time for his milestone, he is in top form. Schmölz has scored in each of his last eight games (nine points in total), making him the player with the longest current scoring streak in the league.

Kastner out for several weeks
"We can look forward to a really good game," says Ehliz. For him and his team-mates, it is now important to perform consistently at the top level: "We have to deliver the performances we started the new year with every game." But without Maxi Kastner. The international will be out for at least six weeks after suffering a leg injury in the game in Cologne.
