Course of the game
The Red Bulls dominated the game from the start, but Iserlohn initially defended consistently. After an increase in tempo, the pressure on the visitors' goal increased. Andreas Jenike took center stage and prevented Munich from taking the lead with a brilliant save against Maximilian Kastner (10th). A short time later, however, the Roosters goalkeeper had no chance: DeSousa popped up free in front of the box after a dream pass from Trevor Parkes and made it 1:0 (13.). Shortly before the break, Iserlohn created their first chances to equalize in the powerplay, but Mathias Niederberger was no match for them.
The Red Bulls also got off to the better start in the middle period before Iserlohn became more courageous. The duel was now more open with chances on both sides. Roosters striker Sven Ziegler took advantage of one of them to equalize (28'). Eric Cornel even had a chance to give the visitors the lead in overtime, but his shot hit the crossbar (36'). So it remained 1:1 after 40 minutes.
The Red Bulls upped the tempo after the final break. In the 45th minute, Hager rewarded the champions with his overtime goal to make it 2:1. Munich then defended offensively, with little to be seen of the Roosters. And yet the visitors came back again: Cedric Schiemenz finished off a counter-attack to make it 2:2 (50'). Both teams were now playing for three points. Pure excitement at Oberwiesenfeld. The decision was made 101 seconds before the final buzzer: Blum scored from the wrist to make it 3:2 and secure the Red Bulls their fifth home win in a row.
