Test of strength in the capital: Red Bulls as guests in Berlin
Thursday, 02. February 2023 | DEL: EHC Red Bull München as guests of Eisbären Berlin
Test of strength in the capital: Red Bulls as guests in Berlin// DEL - PREVIEWOn Friday, the Red Bulls enter the last full month of the DEL main round. At Eisbären Berlin (7:30 p.m. | LIVE on the blog & MagentaSport), Don Jackson's team is looking to regain momentum after three recent defeats.
Our boys have already demonstrated how this plan can succeed at the start of the year. On January 2, they won 3:2 away from home in the German capital. If you look back further, you'll see that Patrick Hager & Co. have won all three of their season meetings with the Eisbären so far. So one victory is still missing for the perfect result against the reigning champions.

Confidence in their own strengths
And that's exactly what the Red Bulls want to get on Friday night. With a win, the Munich team would not only keep its clean slate against the Eisbären, but its own turnaround would also be perfect. For the first time this season, the sovereign league leader had to accept three defeats in a row. Accordingly focused it went to the matter in the training week. "We have worked hard," confirms Ben Smith. "We continue to be confident and believe in what we can do." Apparently, coach Don Jackson has put his finger on the wound of the last three games. "We adjusted some things that didn't go well," reports our number 12.

The next acid test awaits in Berlin. "We want to strike back and need our best performance for that," the attacker makes clear.
Eisbären face early summer break
The champion of the past two seasons needs one thing above all: points. Twelve matchdays before the end of the main round the capitals as table thirteenth still fight for rank ten, which would be enough at least for the 1. playoff round. The gap is still a whopping seven points.
It looked as if the team of coach Serge Aubin would finally find into the track. Berlin won five games in a row before the race to catch up was interrupted again with two recent defeats.
Concentrated offensive power on paper
Both at home in the Mercedes-Benz Arena and away, the Eisbären can't get any consistency in their game. At least they can rely on their own power play - 28.6 percent success rate is the second best value in the league!
There is no doubt about the high quality of the squad anyway. Forward Marcel Noebels delivers as usual with 47 scorer points (15 goals, 32 assists). Leo Pföderl has rediscovered his scoring touch with seven goals in the last seven games, and Giovanni Fiore has also hit the mark 19 times.
With a brace, the Berlin top scorer brought his team back in the last meeting with the Red Bulls. The aim is to avoid that on Friday.
