Course of the game
Nuremberg got off to a powerful start and put a lot of shots on Munich's goal. The reward was the opening goal by Dane Fox (7th). A game with many tough duels developed. The Red Bulls got into the game better and better after the goal, but Niklas Treutle stood in the way of the equalizer several times. The Ice Tigers went into the first break with a narrow lead.
The fans also got to see intense ice hockey in the middle period. A back and forth with chances on both sides. Hager made the most of one of them, scoring the equalizer (35') after a remarkable assist from Chris DeSousa. The Red Bulls then pressed for their second goal, but there was no getting past Treutle. It remained 1:1 after 40 minutes.
Two teams in attack mode, plenty of pace and top-class opportunities - the duel also had a lot to offer in the final period. The crossbar prevented Nuremberg from taking the lead through Tim Fleischer (43'), before the Red Bulls came close to scoring several times. However, the Ice Tigers scored the next goal: Elis Hede gave Mathias Niederberger no chance with his solo effort (49'). Munich then tried everything once again, but even with the extra field player they were unable to equalize.
