Gameplay
The Red Bulls were clearly superior in the first period and were successful early on: Schütz scored coldly after a dream pass from Redmond (3.). Munich was also very playful after that, and the Ice Tigers were under constant pressure. Niklas Treutle in the goal of the guests did not get a breather, but prevented with strong saves a higher deficit of the Nuremberg at the first intermission.
Munich continued to concentrate, but the Ice Tigers now had more shots. The equalizer of the guests was nevertheless lucky, because the shot of Andrew Bodnarchuk was deflected unstoppable for Daniel Allavena (26th). A little later, the guests even had a chance to take the lead on the power play, but Allavena shone against Patrick Reimer (30.). The Red Bulls did better in overtime: Redmond scored the 2:1 after Andreas Eder's preparation (37.).
In the final period, Austin Ortega missed the opportunity to add to the lead for Munich after just a few seconds. After that, the Ice Tigers were more offensive and Allavena was in focus. The goalkeeper was on the spot against Jakob Ustorf (48th), but he could not prevent the equalizer by Daniel Schmölz (49th). In the penultimate minute, Dane Fox turned the game around with his goal to make it 3:2 - and a little later he scored an empty-net goal to make it 4:2 (60.).
