Gameplay
The Red Bulls got off to a lightning start: after just 19 seconds, Yasin Ehliz served Smith, who only had to stick his stick in the middle. The Ingolstadt keeper Michael Garteig was under a lot of pressure in the early stages before his teammates provided relief with the first dangerous attacks. One of them even led to the equalizer by Wojciech Stachowiak (11.). An entertaining derby with great offensive actions on both sides, but without further goals before the break.
Also in the middle period, the Red Bulls were successful early: Street completed a solo in overtime dreamlike to 2:1 (22.). The top team continued to play with concentration, goalkeeper Mathias Niederberger rarely had to intervene. His counterpart still had more work to do and was without a chance in the 30th minute when Eder shot. Sten Fischer provided the assist and scored his first goal in the DEL. Munich was superior and had chances to score a fourth goal, but the two-goal lead remained after 40 minutes.
Ingolstadt under pressure and with more risk in the final period. Niederberger now had to show his skills more often and, among other things, saved a solo effort by Philipp Krauß (42nd). However, the national goalkeeper had to let pass Fabio Wagner's powerful shot (47.). High tension at Oberwiesenfeld! The Panthers showed great commitment, but Munich defended its narrow lead strongly and secured three points in the third Upper Bavarian derby of the season.
