This Thursday at 19:30 (LIVE on MagentaSport & on our blog), we will play our 800th game at ERC Ingolstadt.

It is also the 62nd Upper Bavaria derby against the Panthers. Munich won 36 of them - including the 3:1 victory in the fifth and final game of last season, which gave us our fourth German championship. Ingolstadt prevailed in the two subsequent duels: first 2:0 in their own arena, then 5:3 in the Olympia-Eisstadion.

Red Bulls are the DEL team with the best form

The Red Bulls want to stop the Panthers' little run. Our boys have the form to do so - even the 1:2 on penalties at league leaders Berlin doesn't change that.

Before the narrow defeat on Sunday, we had won four games in a row. With 13 points, we are the most successful team of the past five matchdays.

Ingolstadt makes gains

However, with ten points in the same period, the Panthers have nothing to hide either. Ingolstadt beat Augsburg 6:3 on Sunday. Coach Mark French's team are currently in eighth place, but their sights are set on the top.

After the offensive engine stuttered in the early stages of the season, Daniel Pietta, Wayne Simpson and Co. have recently been performing at their usual level again.

Travis St. Denis in particular has been ice-cold in front of goal in recent weeks: the Panthers' top scorer this season (ten goals) has scored in five of his last seven appearances.

Beware of Stachowiak

Our boys also have to watch out for Wojciech Stachowiak. The German international scored four goals against us last season.

In the two derbies this season, Stachowiak has contributed four assists to the runners-up's victories. When he and his teammates Simpson and Charles Bertrand turn up the heat, danger is in the air.

However, the Red Bulls' defense is well prepared: only seven goals conceded in the past five games is the best record in the DEL. The offense also performed well with 14 goals in this period. A win in Ingolstadt would be our 489th victory in the German Ice Hockey League.
