Off to the Main metropolis: Red Bulls aim for fourth win against Frankfurt
Monday, 26. February 2024 | DEL: EHC Red Bull München challenged at Löwen Frankfurt
Off to the Main metropolis: Red Bulls aim for fourth win against Frankfurt// DEL - PRE-REPORTOn Tuesday evening, EHC Red Bull München will once again play away from home. At 7.30 pm, we will be guests at Löwen Frankfurt (live on MagentaSport & on our blog).
Numerous top chances, multiple post goals and a brilliant Niklas Treutle in the Ice Tigers' box: on Sunday, the Red Bulls failed to come away victorious for the first time in three games in a 2-1 draw in Nuremberg. The Grizzlys Wolfsburg, in fourth place in the table, are now four points away, but have also played one game more.
Frankfurt lost with the same result in Straubing on Sunday. This halted Frankfurt's short run of two wins in a row and three games with at least one point in a row. The Lions are therefore still in the thick of the relegation battle.
Highlights: Red Bull München vs. Löwen Frankfurt (07.01.2024)
// DEL - HIGHLIGHTS
Munich with a white vest
Three games, three wins: that's our unblemished record against Frankfurt so far this season. Coach Toni Söderholm's team won 5:2 and 2:1 at the Olympic Ice Stadium and 4:2 away from home.
Another win would be hugely important for the Red Bulls in the race for fourth place and the associated home play-off spot and would increase the pressure on Wolfsburg.
Frankfurt must continue to tremble
Our opponents, on the other hand, are unlikely to play in the play-offs this season. The team of sports director and head coach Franz-David Fritzmeier is eight points behind tenth-placed Nuremberg with four games to go. Only with a winning streak can the Lions at least theoretically still dream of reaching the final round.
Instead, the Hessians are looking further down the table. The Augsburg Panthers are only five points away at the bottom of the table, so the relegation worries in the Main metropolis have not yet disappeared.
However, Frankfurt recently picked up two very important wins at home and were able to breathe a sigh of relief in the battle to stay in the league. The 5:3 win in the derby against Adler Mannheim and the hard-fought 4:3 victory after a penalty shoot-out in the basement duel against Augsburg were real big points.
Bokk and Napravnik in top form
The two forwards Dominik Bokk and Julian Napravnik were the guarantors for the recently so important home points. The duo is currently in the same line as top center Carter Rowney.

Bokk, who has just extended his DEL contract in Frankfurt for another season, scored against Mannheim and Augsburg. The 24-year-old also converted the decisive penalty against the Panthers. November newcomer Napravnik scored a brace against Mannheim. The forward has scored eight of his ten goals so far this season since January 11.
Goalkeeper Julius Hudacek, who joined the Lions from Kladno at the beginning of the year, also performed strongly in his first twelve appearances. The experienced Slovakian, who has already won silver at the World Championships, kept valuable points with many saves.
